Sex Doll Warranties: What's Actually Published, and What Protects You
Short answer: there is no meaningful brand-by-brand warranty league table, because most makers don't publish warranty terms. None of the 82 model records in our catalog carry warranty or return terms from the listing behind them (see the table under this guide). Your real protection is the seller's written policy, your evidence on delivery day, and how you pay. Any site that ranks brands by warranty is filling a gap with guesses.
What is published, brand by brand
| Brand | Manufacturer warranty we could find | Status |
|---|---|---|
| ZELEX | 12 months, but only through a dealer's specification table | Reported by a dealer, not by the maker |
| Abyss Creations (RealDoll) | No duration found; no in-house repair service advertised | Ask RealDoll directly |
| Angel Kiss, Gynoid, Irontech, Sino, WM, Starpery, SE, FanReal, Climax, DS / EX | No duration or scope published by the manufacturer that we could find | Not published |
Even where a duration exists, scope and exclusions aren't stated. No public data on claim outcomes exists for any brand.
What US law does, and doesn't, guarantee
The FTC's Businessperson's Guide to Federal Warranty Law explains the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Four points matter to a doll buyer:
- No business is required to give a written warranty. The Act "does not require any business to provide a written warranty." A missing warranty is legal; it just means you have less protection.
- If a written warranty exists, you're entitled to see it before you buy. For consumer products costing more than $15, written warranty terms must be available before purchase. Mail-order sellers must include the warranty or tell you how to get a copy. An online seller that says "warranty included" but won't show the terms is a warning sign.
- "Full" vs "limited" is a legal label. A "full" warranty must meet federal minimum standards. Most product warranties are "limited", so read what is limited.
- Implied warranties still exist under state law unless the seller clearly sells "as is". A seller offering a written warranty can't disclaim them, though a limited warranty can shorten them.
Most premium dolls are sold by overseas factories through retailers, often outside the US. How far US rules reach a foreign seller in practice is uncertain. We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice.
Where protection actually lives: the retailer's policy
The terms that decide your outcome are in the retailer's policy text. Typical patterns we found:
- Free cancellation windows as short as 12–24 hours, then fees of around 20% (up to 50% restocking in some terms).
- Damage reporting within 24–48 hours, with photo or video evidence.
- Remedies that are often parts or a repair kit, not a replacement or refund.
The full breakdown is in Return and cancellation policies.
Your payment method is a backstop
If you pay by credit card and something goes wrong, US law gives you a dispute route. For billing errors, the CFPB says to "send a written billing error notice to the card company within 60 calendar days after the charge appeared on your statement". Defective goods can need a different dispute process (CFPB).
Practical consequences:
- Keep the seller's written answers, your order confirmation and your delivery photos.
- Note the date the charge appears, because the clock starts then, not on delivery day. Long made-to-order lead times can eat into that window.
- Debit cards, bank transfers and crypto give you far less leverage. A seller that only accepts these is a risk signal: see How to verify a legitimate seller.
How to compare two sellers' warranties
Score each seller's written answers. The one that answers more of these clearly wins, whatever the headline duration:
| Question | Strong answer | Weak answer |
|---|---|---|
| How long, and what does it cover? | Named defects (skeleton, joints, seams) and a named remedy | "Quality guarantee" |
| Who handles the claim? | The retailer, with a named contact | "Contact the factory" |
| Who pays return freight on a heavy item? | The seller, for defects | Unstated |
| Damage-report deadline | Stated in hours, with the evidence required | Unstated |
| Are fingers, joints and finish covered? | Yes, or exclusions listed | "Normal wear" undefined |
| Can I see the terms before paying? | Yes, a link or a PDF | "After purchase" |
If a seller won't answer in writing, treat that as no warranty.
